AMT tweeter-driven, airy highs meet authoritative low end in a compact centre speaker: the EVO4.C pairs dual Kevlar woofers and a ported cabinet for deep, controlled bass, while a dedicated 2" mid delivers natural vocals and precise imaging. With 90dB sensitivity and strong dynamic headroom, it offers a punchy, refined front‑stage presence that belies its size.
Pros
Airy, detailed treble from the 30x60mm AMT tweeter with low distortion and good upper‑frequency extension.
Strong, controlled bass from dual 6.5" Kevlar woofers in a bass‑reflex cabinet, with measured extension to the low 40Hz region and high peak SPL.
Three‑way layout with a dedicated 2" mid driver yields clear vocal presence and well‑defined imaging.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 90/100
Bass
90/100
Dual 6.5" Kevlar bass drivers in a bass-reflex enclosure with a stated -6dB extension of 42Hz and a ±3dB response down to 48Hz indicate strong low-frequency extension and output for the form factor. Ported design and high sensitivity (90dB) support solid punch and extension; for its size this configuration should deliver authoritative bass without undue strain.
Mid
88/100
A dedicated 2" soft-dome midrange and a three-way crossover imply focused midband clarity and natural vocal presence. The combination of dedicated mid driver and relatively high sensitivity suggests good midrange body and articulation suited to vocals and acoustic instruments.
Treble
91/100
The 30x60mm AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter and a stated response to 22kHz point to open, airy treble with fine detail and low distortion. AMTs typically provide excellent transient speed and upper-frequency extension, so expect refined high-end resolution and a sense of air without harshness.
Soundstage Imaging
90/100
Three-way topology with an AMT tweeter and a dedicated mid should produce good imaging and a wide, layered soundstage. High sensitivity and distinct drivers for low/mid/high bands support precise image focus and stable placement across the listening area.
Dynamics
89/100
90dB sensitivity, a recommended amp range up to 150W and 108dB peak SPL indicate strong dynamic headroom and punch for the size. Dual woofers and ported alignment favor robust macro dynamics and transient impact when paired with adequate amplification.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
90/100
Kevlar woven cones, substantial net weight (15.8kg per speaker) and Wharfedale's EVO engineering point to solid cabinet construction and quality driver materials. The three-way crossover and AMT integration suggest careful mechanical and acoustic design consistent with high build standards.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive bookshelf baseline applied: single-post passive speaker assumed; no DSP/app/streaming expected. Features/connectivity scored at passive baseline (80) per rules.
Value for Money
82/100
Price not provided, so value is inferred from specification: three-way design, dual 6.5" Kevlar woofers and an AMT tweeter deliver performance typically seen in higher-tier compact speakers. Conservatively rated since MSRP/retail pricing and direct peer comparisons are unavailable.

Manufacturer's Description — Wharfedale
Wharfedale’s new EVO4 has grown out of the extensive research and development that produced the ELYSIAN flagship loudspeakers and borrows much of the technology involved in ELYSIAN.
The primary focus is on the AMT development resulting in a radically different way of reproducing high frequency detail efficiently and accurately. Similar cabinet technology to ELYSIAN provides a stable and solid foundation for the drive units with radiused edges to help integrate the driver output with the room acoustics. In addition the unique SLPP bass reflex system, as developed for ELYSIAN, is now incorporated in EVO4.
