The BR04 brings deeper, controlled bass and a natural vocal warmth to an accommodating bookshelf design. Its silk-dome waveguide and cellulose midwoofer promise clear, even-handed detail, while the front port makes placement easier in real rooms. Best of High End highlights its crisp voices and low-distortion composure, making this an engaging stereo or cinema all-rounder.
Pros
Deeper, more controlled bass from the redesigned front bass-reflex port and larger cabinet.
Clear, warm and realistic vocal reproduction from the cellulose midwoofer and silk-dome tweeter.
Front port supports flexible near-wall placement, while double binding posts enable bi-wiring and bi-amping.
Cons
Front-port convenience can come at the expense of soundstage depth; careful toe-in and positioning are important for the best imaging.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 86/100
The BR04 is presented as a warm, clear and engaging stand-mount with particularly convincing vocal reproduction and stronger low-end definition than its predecessor. Its front port helps placement flexibility, although one review cautions that it can trade some soundstage depth for that convenience and benefits from careful aiming.
Bass
89/100
Both reviews highlight the revised front bass-reflex port and larger cabinet as meaningful improvements, describing deeper, more controlled and more accurate low-frequency output. For a 16cm two-way stand-mount, reports of better-defined sub-bass-to-mid-bass performance and reduced port turbulence are especially encouraging.
Mid
88/100
Vocal timbre is a clear strength: reviewers describe crisp vocal clarity, natural warmth and a realistic, uncoloured presentation of voices. The cellulose midwoofer is also said to retain tonal weight and clarity at higher levels, with its revised profile intended to reduce distortion.
Treble
85/100
The silk-dome tweeter and waveguide are credited with precise reproduction and even dispersion, while one reviewer anticipates a cleaner, slightly softer top end than earlier Borea models. Direct listening commentary on ultimate treble extension, air and refinement remains limited.
Soundstage Imaging
82/100
The waveguide is intended to provide broad, even dispersion, and direct toe-in can improve image focus and midrange coherence. However, ecoustics specifically notes that the front-port arrangement may reduce soundstage depth, making setup and aiming more important than usual.
Dynamics
84/100
The revised driver profile and vibration-control system are described as supporting cleaner output and lower distortion at elevated volume. There is also encouraging evidence of strong higher-level playback for the related Borea design, though dedicated listening observations about the BR04's dynamic range are still sparse.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
86/100
Triangle's DVAS driver mounting is designed to limit cabinet-borne vibration, while the revised cabinet, crossover arrangement and double binding posts suggest thoughtful engineering. Ecoustics calls build quality in the established Borea range excellent, but notes that the BR04-specific updates had not yet been fully assessed in listening.
Value for Money
90/100
At its reported $599-per-pair launch price, ecoustics considered the BR04 a potential sleeper product capable of delivering long-term listening enjoyment below $600. With the listed price around $649, it remains competitively positioned for a generously sized 6.5-inch two-way with front-port flexibility, although its appeal depends on those promised refinements being borne out in full reviews.

- Amplifier and Power Handling
- Recommended amplifier RMS power: 25 to 130 watts (8 Ohms). Power Handling : 110 Watts The power handling of a speaker is the average continuous power that the speaker can accept without damaging the drivers. You can use an amplifier more powerful than the permissible speaker power by limiting the volume to 70% of the maximum capacity. Conversely, an amplifier that is too underpowered will clip and create distortion, which can also damage the speakers if it is used beyond its capacity.
- Speaker informations
- • Type: Bass Reflex Bookshelf with front bass reflex port • Crossover: 2 Ways • Sensitivity: 90 dB • Bandwidth (+/- 3dB): 44 – 22,000 Hz • Nominal impedance: 8Ω • Minimum impedance: 4.6 Ω The impedance of a speaker can be simplified as an electrical resistance. The lower is the impedance of the speaker, the more current the amplifier will have to deliver. - Nominal impedance is measured at a frequency of 1kHz - Minimum impedance is measured at low frequencies. TRIANGLE loudspeakers never fall below 3 Ohms, which means they can be used with almost all Hi-Fi and Home Cinema amplifiers.
