The Lumina II Amator pairs rich, full-bodied warmth with exceptionally dimensional soundstaging, giving voices tangible depth and instruments precise space. HomeTheaterHifi admired its neutral clarity and wide dispersion, while SoundStage Solo found its imaging remarkably cohesive. Leather-clad cabinetry, glossy wood and controlled bass make this a luxurious compact speaker with genuine audiophile presence.
Pros
Expansive, deep soundstage with precise imaging and convincing instrument separation.
Clear, expressive midrange gives vocals natural body, intimacy and focus.
Premium leather-and-gloss-wood finish delivers exceptional visual appeal and perceived quality for the price.
Plays loudly with composure, while the forward/downward port aids flexible placement.
Cons
Bass is rich but not the tautest or most sharply defined, and can become muddy close to a rear wall.
Rhythmic drive and dynamic contrast trail more agile rivals.
Treble can sound hard with direct toe-in or bright recordings, especially at higher levels.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 91/100
Reviewers consistently describe a refined, rich and highly coherent presentation with particularly strong vocal expression and immersive spatial performance. Its warm solidity and generous low end make it an inviting small-room speaker, though careful positioning helps preserve bass definition and treble smoothness.
Bass
89/100
For a compact 150mm two-way, reviewers found the bass surprisingly deep, full and punchy, with HomeTheaterHifi hearing controlled output even on very low organ notes. What Hi-Fi? found the low end somewhat soft and less taut than key rivals, however, while placement near a wall can make it muddy; it prioritises richness and detail over outright slam.
Mid
94/100
The midrange earns especially enthusiastic praise for its natural clarity, body and vocal communication. Reviewers heard expressive, intimate voices with convincing depth, while SoundStage Solo praised the seamless handoff between drivers and the way vocals remained distinct without being artificially pushed forward.
Treble
88/100
Detail, air and clarity are widely appreciated, with reviewers describing a sonorous rather than generally strident top end and an unfatiguing character on suitable recordings. Still, several listeners found the treble elevated or prominent: direct toe-in, high volume, bright recordings or certain amplifiers can bring hardness, sharpness or occasional sibilance.
Soundstage Imaging
95/100
Spatial performance is a major attraction. Reviews report broad, deep and dimensional staging, sharply separated instruments and a stable phantom centre even with the speakers widely spaced; one comparison found their front-to-back realism and image height clearly superior to competing models. They reward some free space around them, where their ability to disappear becomes most convincing.
Dynamics
86/100
The Lumina II Amator can play loudly and stay composed, with reviewers noting punchy percussion and no obvious distress at high levels. Its rhythmic drive is less compelling than its tonal richness and imaging, though: What Hi-Fi? found volume shifts and bass attack a little mechanical and short of the snap offered by more dynamically agile competitors.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
90/100
The leather-clad Italian cabinets are repeatedly praised for their luxurious appearance, soft-touch finish and unusually elegant presence for the price. Reviewers also note that the plastic base plinth and rather ordinary-feeling terminals dilute the otherwise premium impression slightly.
Value for Money
91/100
At roughly $1,499–$1,500 per pair, reviewers regard the Lumina II Amator as competitively priced for its finish, Italian manufacture and sophisticated sound. HomeTheaterHifi called it terrific value and said its precision and spaciousness recall a much more expensive speaker, while other reviewers considered the asking price reasonable; What Hi-Fi?'s more qualified four-star verdict reflects the sonic trade-offs against rivals.

MADE IN ITALY
Made in Sonus faber’s Vicenza, Italy factory, Lumina Amator incorporates iconic Sonus faber design materials, including wood and leather. Lumin II Amator features the simple squared design of the Lumina collection with new front panels featuring 45-degree woodgrain lacquered veneers.
IMPROVED CROSSOVER
The Lumina II Amator crossovers have been designed, inheriting the legacy left by the development of the new Homage collection. Many of the solutions adopted on the new special models are derived from those of the Amati G5 and Guarneri G5.
Lumina Amator II boasts an upgraded crossover network at 2600 Hz, an 800 Hz improvement from Lumina II, elevating the overall listening experience to new heights.
SIMPLICITY AND STYLE
Lumina takes note of Sonus faber’s iconic natural materials.
SIMPLICITY, STYLE, AND PERFORMANCE

TWEETER
The iconic D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter, the same used in the Sonetto series, features a Kurtmueller hand coated soft silk diaphragm of 29mm. The chrome rings around the drivers highlight their shapes and proportions and give brightness to the front baffle.
MIDWOOFER
Lumina II Amator features a 4’’ midwoofer developed for this collection. It is equipped with a custom-made basket and a diaphragm composed of cellulose pulp blended with other natural fibers.
IFF CROSSOVER
The IFF circuitry and the phase coherent philosophy ensure perfect rendering of the virtual sound stage in three dimensions. The new filters also offer greater resolution and more rigorous and coherent reproduction.
