Built around deep, tight bass that can make a subwoofer optional, the Legend L600 brings serious physical scale to music and movies. Gene Hopstetter heard a vast, disappearing soundstage and effortless high-level dynamics, while Steven JM Polley praised its cinematic control and room-filling impact. Add smooth mids, sparkling treble, and bi-wire/bi-amp flexibility, and this is a formidable full-range tower.
Pros
Deep, fast, realistic bass delivers substantial kick-drum impact and can reduce the need for a separate subwoofer.
Expansive soundstage and strong imaging let the speakers disappear and project well beyond their cabinets.
Stays controlled and dynamic at high volume, making it especially convincing for action films and energetic music.
Cons
Its 4-ohm load and 86dB sensitivity benefit from a capable, higher-power amplifier for best focus and bass control.
Some recordings can reveal bass overhang, and one reviewer found the midrange and treble less open than ideal.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 92/100
The Legend L600 is consistently praised as an entertaining, full-range speaker with especially commanding low end, a large-scale presentation, and strong composure at high volume. It is particularly convincing with film soundtracks and action material, though one reviewer found the midrange and treble less open and lively than desired.
Bass
96/100
Bass is the L600's standout strength. Reviewers repeatedly describe deep, tight, powerful low frequencies with realistic kick-drum impact, speed, and enough authority to make a separate subwoofer unnecessary for many systems; one review did note that certain recordings can produce some bass overhang.
Mid
88/100
The midrange is generally described as smooth, natural, pleasant, and capable of revealing vocal range and reverberant detail. However, the SoundStage reviewer felt the midband could lack some life and openness, preventing an entirely unqualified verdict.
Treble
91/100
The Pinnacle tweeter earns praise for sparkle, crispness, and extension without straying into fatigue. Reviews also note convincing metallic and brass instrumental detail, while measurements commentary found the upper range extended and even rather than rolled off.
Soundstage Imaging
91/100
Reviews describe a notably expansive presentation, with the speakers disappearing and the stage extending beyond both the cabinets and, in one room, its physical boundaries. Instrument images are reported as well defined, although one listener felt the imaging was slightly stretched.
Dynamics
93/100
The L600 is praised for staying focused and controlled at high volume, with strong transient attack and no reported strain in demanding playback. One reviewer exceeded 110dB without audible distortion, while others highlighted its speed, punch, and bombastic movie-scale impact.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
91/100
Reviewers find the L600 substantial, solidly braced, and impressively finished, with real-wood veneer, a smooth baffle, and secure, generously spaced terminals. The cabinet's mass and rigidity receive particular praise, though the full-length magnetic grille is said to feel somewhat flimsy when removed.
Value for Money
92/100
At AU$6,999, the L600 is described as a bang-for-buck option that combines serious bass output, attractive finish, and home-theater flexibility in a relatively slim tower. The Absolute Sound calls it affordable for a budget-conscious audiophile and says it merits close consideration for its heft and musicality, though buyers should allow for an amplifier with adequate power.

Designed to impress
Legend Series was designed from the ground up to deliver the best sounding Polk speakers ever created. From our flagship audio technologies to their beautiful, elegant cabinetry the Legend L600 deliver great sound without compromise.
Pinnacle ring radiator tweeter
40 plus years of tweeter innovation, design and prototyping has led to the development of the new 1” high definition Pinnacle ring radiator tweeter. Developed for the Legend Series, it delivers ultra-clear, crisp highs without unwanted coloration or distortions. The Pinnacle tweeter features a finely tuned waveguide that dramatically improves the dispersion of high frequency energy ensuring a broad “sweet spot” while the critically damped rear-chamber helps to defeat any unwanted resonances.
Better bass by design
Traditional bass ports make noise (chuff) and mask the low frequency bass notes you want to hear. The new enhanced Power Port® design smoothly transitions air flow from the speaker into your listening area for louder, cleaner bass while minimizing turbulence, distortion, and port noise.
5.25" turbine cone
Polk developed the Turbine cone specifically for the Legend series to ensure the natural reproduction of the mid-range, the frequencies our ears are so sensitive to. The Turbine cone combines Polk’s proprietary foam core and the molded Turbine geometry which dramatically increases stiffness and damping, without adding mass, resulting in a smooth, detailed mid-range and effortless bass – hear every detail.
3d audio compatibility optional height module
For the ultimate listening experience, the L800 can be used for the front stage of any home theater or as side and rear surrounds. Elevate your sound of your home theater set up with our optional Legend L900 height module (sold separately).
