SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 96/100

Reviewers describe an unusually complete, composed full-range presentation: powerful and controlled at the bottom, exceptionally convincing through voices and instruments, and highly resolved without becoming hard-edged. It combines scale, focus and speed with an easy-going musical fluency that keeps attention on recordings rather than the loudspeakers.

Bass

96/100

The No.3 earns repeated praise for bass that is deep, powerful and cleanly controlled. What Hi-Fi notes extended low-frequency reach, while Hi-Fi News hears a powerful yet tight and tuneful foundation with convincing orchestral weight and rhythmic drive.

Mid

96/100

The midrange is a standout. What Hi-Fi calls it the star of the show, finding exceptional expression and inflection in vocals, while Hi-Fi News praises its tonality, insight and ability to retain piano clarity amid bass and drums.

Treble

95/100

The beryllium tweeter is reported to be highly capable and refined rather than aggressive. What Hi-Fi hears sweet, pure violin tone with no harshness, plus clean handling of complex synthesised treble without distortion.

Soundstage Imaging

96/100

Reviews consistently highlight a focused, layered and lifelike spatial presentation. What Hi-Fi describes convincing depth, height and width with sharply focused images, and Hi-Fi News hears a realistic ensemble and recorded acoustic around a firmly anchored soloist.

Dynamics

96/100

The Kanta N°3 is repeatedly described as dramatic, fast and powerful when music demands it, yet subtle and involving at low levels. Reviewers cite incredible drum dynamics, crisp rhythmic control and the ability to convey the force of rock or a full symphony orchestra.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

95/100

The substantial cabinet, integral Zamac base and adjustable spike arrangement receive strong practical and visual praise. Hi-Fi News calls the speakers immaculately built and finished, while What Hi-Fi details the dense, stiff and well-damped one-piece front baffle.

Value for Money

92/100

At roughly £9,000 or $12,000 per pair depending on market, these are expensive loudspeakers, but reviewers repeatedly regard them as a compelling proposition within high-end competition. Both What Hi-Fi and Audiophilepure describe the N°3 as reaching a price/performance sweet spot, with Audiophilepure recommending an audition even for buyers who began with a lower budget.

Manufacturer's Description — Focal

3-way floor-standing speaker

High-fidelity reference of the line, Kanta N°3 is an acoustic work with resolutely modern design. It combines a number of exclusive focal technologies, for flawless hi-fi quality in stereo configuration like home cinema. With Kanta, performance has style.

ALL IN MUSIC

This hi-fi loudspeaker combines depth, impact and bass register articulation. The definition and neutrality of the midrange are exceptional, thanks to the advantages of the French Flax membrane. The latest-generation IAL tweeter reproduces the finest details with surgical precision.

DESIGN FOR SOUND

Thanks to Focus Time, all the loudspeakers are at the same distance from the ear. The modern, disruptive character of the loudspeaker is underlined by a one-piece molded wood rear shell, a Zamak base, a glass plate, discreet magnetic fabric holders...

MODERN FINISHES

Mat fronts are combined with Black High Gloss, White High Gloss and Walnut High Gloss bodies, offering a wide choice of contemporary combinations. Sophisticated, the Matte effect "absorbs" light rather than reflecting it, creating a refined contrast with the varnishes.
