Focal’s Diva Utopia brings deep, controlled bass, pinpoint imaging and smooth beryllium-tweeter detail to a remarkably self-contained high-end system. What Hi-Fi? praises its clarity, authority and composure, while SoundStage Solo highlights expansive spatial precision. With 400W per speaker, streaming, HDMI eARC and room tuning onboard, it delivers full-scale musical immersion without a rack of separates.

Pros

Deep, powerful bass combines impressive grip, agility and definition without sacrificing control.

Exceptionally broad, deep and precisely focused soundstage keeps instruments distinct during complex music.

Integrated streaming, inputs, amplification and app control create a genuinely high-end system with minimal component clutter.

Cons

The wireless inter-speaker link is limited to 24-bit/96kHz; a wired link offers higher resolution and slightly stronger dynamics.

Its refined, controlled voicing can sound a little safe, softening the raw excitement and rhythmic attack of more aggressive recordings.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 95/100

Reviewers consistently describe a highly resolved, even-handed and effortlessly large-scale presentation. The Diva Utopia combines genuinely full-range bass, natural vocal and instrumental reproduction, refined treble and unusually expansive imaging, though a few listeners find its rhythmic character more controlled than overtly explosive.

Bass

96/100

Deep, powerful and carefully controlled bass is one of the most consistently praised aspects. SoundStage Australia found it deep, detailed and tonally truthful, while HomeTheaterHifi reported useful output to 20Hz without a subwoofer; What Hi-Fi praises the effortless power, grip and agility of the four-woofer array.

Mid

95/100

Vocals and acoustic instruments are repeatedly described as articulate, present and natural. Sound Advice heard exceptional vocal resolution and realism, while What Hi-Fi and Audiophilepure highlight clear voices, convincing texture and a welcome degree of warmth.

Treble

95/100

The beryllium tweeter earns strong praise for its delicacy, extension and lack of aggression. SoundStage Australia was impressed by lifelike cymbals, chimes and decays, while What Hi-Fi found the upper range sweet, detailed, smooth and forgiving of poorer recordings.

Soundstage Imaging

96/100

Reviews strongly agree that the speakers disappear into a broad, deep and precisely organised soundfield. SoundStage Australia cites outstanding width and excellent depth, and HiFi News found a detailed, cabinet-free presentation that remained stable even for off-axis listeners.

Dynamics

94/100

The Diva Utopia has considerable headroom, stays composed at high levels and handles large dynamic swings with ease. HomeTheaterHifi calls its microdynamics among the best available and its macro-dynamics almost without limit, although HiFi News and What Hi-Fi note a poised rather than aggressively explosive character.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

92/100

The cabinets are widely regarded as substantial, carefully assembled and visually distinctive. SoundStage Australia highlights the beautiful finish and precision-machined spike system, while What Hi-Fi describes the structure as solid, damped and dense; HiFi News also notes the rigid moulded cabinet engineering and practical integrated castors.

Value for Money

89/100

At around $39,999-$40,000 per pair, this remains an expensive system, but reviewers generally regard the price as credible against premium passive speakers plus high-end electronics. Sound Advice says it makes its asking price seem fair, What Hi-Fi finds little to fear from similarly priced separates, and The Absolute Sound compares the proposition to a $20,000 speaker system paired with $20,000 of electronics and cables.

Manufacturer's Description — Focal

3-WAY ACTIVE WIRELESS LOUDSPEAKER

DIVA UTOPIA combines the best of Focal Acoustics and Naim Electronics. This active bass-reflex speaker offers high-quality sound, the latest wireless technologies, and extensive connectivity for exceptional listening experiences. Whether it's music, movies, or video games, it revolutionises home listening and frees you from all constraints. With DIVA UTOPIA and its unique design, simply plug in, connect, and enjoy the pure sound of Focal.

EASE OF USE, HIGH RESOLUTION

DIVA UTOPIA is easy to install and use, with no wires connecting the speakers. Thanks to Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology, the sound quality is exceptional, surpassing CD standards by delivering studio-grade sound at 192kHz/24bits. For added convenience, the speaker can be controlled via the Focal & Naim app, a remote control, and voice assistants such as Google Assistant and Siri.

A DESIGN ICON

A true acoustic masterpiece, DIVA UTOPIA combines sophisticated materials with an open design. The Utopia codes are visually represented by the tweeter's dual red and black grille and the ‘ribbon’ surrounding the tweeter in a yin-yang formation, symbolising the harmony of craftsmanship and technology. This creates a distinctive and symbolic "signature watch."

UNIQUE PANELLING

The side panels are designed to be both floating and removable, adding a versatile element to the speaker. They are crafted from felt, an OEKO-TEX®-certified material known for its durability and aesthetic appeal. These panels feature refined lines and include a signature opening in the front to elegantly house the backlit Focal logo. Positioned behind the panels, the bass speakers are subtly integrated on the sides, enhancing the overall sound diffusion.

EXCEPTIONAL FINISHES

In addition to felt, lacquered finishes are available as an option. The depth and timelessness of black is embodied in Black High Gloss, while Dune High Gloss illuminates interiors with its silver and gold highlights, and Off White High Gloss stands out for the silky sheen of its off-white hue. The colours are enhanced by a varnish meticulously applied by our craftsmen in our workshops.

FOCAL AND NAIM APPLICATION

Our dedicated app provides seamless control over your Focal and Naim products and is readily available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store. With the app, you can effortlessly access numerous streaming services, radio stations, and podcasts for a diverse listening experience.

Behind the project

The result of five years of intense development, DIVA UTOPIA is the realisation of a long-held dream for the Focal teams. A series of three videos highlight the key moments of its creation.
