The ELAC RS700 delivers clean, deeply extended bass with a rare talent for disappearing into the system. Nemo Propaganda found its natural integration, quick transients and forceful low-end scale especially impressive, while app-based auto room correction, PEQ and presets make tuning remarkably flexible. This sealed 12-inch powerhouse brings muscular, composed foundation without clouding the music.

Pros

Exceptionally natural integration adds weight and extension without calling attention to the subwoofer.

Clean, forceful low bass combines strong extension, good midbass articulation, dynamics and composure at higher output.

Comprehensive app control includes automatic room correction, PEQ, phase, delay, crossover settings and user presets.

Substantial 35 mm cabinet construction inspires confidence and avoids the sense of cut corners.

Cons

Its refined, lighter tonal balance may be less immediately dramatic for listeners seeking deliberately heavy-handed, attention-grabbing bass.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"The Varro RS700 is all about clean output, really good integration, never drawing attention to itself."

— Nemo Propaganda

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Bass

91/100

The reviewer found strong low-frequency extension, clean midbass articulation, respectable note-to-note definition, and satisfying bass power and scale. They also describe the RS700 as more forceful at low frequencies and composed when driven louder, while retaining a natural presentation.

Integration

94/100

Integration is a standout in the listening report: the RS700 “integrated well,” was praised for its sense of naturalness, and was said to never draw attention to itself. The reviewer specifically calls its integration excellent and recommends it for listeners who do not want to notice the subwoofer as a separate sound source.

Dynamics

91/100

The RS700 earned direct praise for great dynamics, quick transient response, and slightly better note distinction than the comparison subwoofer. It was also reported to remain composed at louder volumes, supporting its sense of force and effortlessness.

Build Quality

92/100

The reviewer was emphatic about the cabinet construction, describing the 35 mm-thick enclosure as exceptionally substantial and saying ELAC had not cut corners. This is reinforced by the product's hefty 25.3 kg cabinet and solid overall presentation, although the review does not address long-term durability.

Features Usability

94/100

The RS700 offers automatic room correction through a phone app, with control over gain, phase, delay, crossover frequency, LED brightness, and user-defined presets. The reviewer presents the app as comprehensive and flexible, making setup and adjustment unusually convenient for a performance-oriented subwoofer.

Value for Money

85/100

The review identifies a $1,599 direct price and notes that it can be found for about $100 less through retailers such as Crutchfield. However, it does not directly assess whether the RS700 is a strong value against similarly priced competing subwoofers.
