Value for Money

90/100

Deep, controlled bass and a rich, balanced soundstage give the DCB61 genuine hi-fi authority in a compact active system. The Ear highlights its punchy low end, smooth wide-dispersion treble and room-filling drive, while HDMI eARC, phono, USB and LC3+ Bluetooth make it an impressively versatile all-in-one hub for music, TV and gaming.

Pros

Deep, punchy bass remains clear and controlled, exceptional for a compact powered bookshelf design.

Waveguide tweeter delivers smooth, accurate treble with broad dispersion for listeners away from the sweet spot.

Extensive connectivity includes HDMI eARC, MM phono, USB audio, optical, Bluetooth and subwoofer output.

Strong all-in-one value, combining amplification and flexible source support at a reasonable price.

Cons

Dolby Digital is downmixed to two channels, or 2.1 channels when an external subwoofer is added; it is not a surround-speaker solution.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"The result is a rich, balanced soundstage that excels across music, movies, and more."

— The Ear

"proof that you don’t need to break the bank for a solid listening experience."

— ecoustics

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 84/100

Reviews describe a rich, balanced presentation with surprisingly substantial low end for this compact powered design. Treble clarity, broad dispersion and room-filling output are highlighted, although there is little direct commentary on midrange character.

Bass

90/100

The 6.5-inch woofer, rear S-shaped port and XBass processing are said to produce deeper bass than expected from speakers of this size. The Ear describes the low end as deep, punchy, clear and controlled, making bass a particular strength for a stand-mount-sized system.

Mid

75/100

The available reviews call the overall balance rich and even, but provide little direct discussion of vocal realism, instrumental timbre or midband warmth. There is not enough listening evidence to make a stronger claim about the midrange.

Treble

88/100

The waveguide-equipped soft-dome tweeter is described as smooth and accurate by The Ear. Ecoustics also reports clear, detailed highs that remain focused and balanced for listeners seated off-axis.

Soundstage Imaging

84/100

The Ear reports a rich, balanced soundstage that works well with music and films. Its waveguide design is also intended to support wide dispersion, though the reviews offer limited detail on image depth, layering or placement precision.

Dynamics

85/100

The amplified woofer is credited with punchy bass and the system is described as capable of room-filling sound. Ecoustics notes the DCB61's increased power over the smaller DCB41, although there is little detailed assessment of high-volume headroom.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

87/100

Ecoustics characterises the DCB61 as an affordable, well-built speaker system. The supplied coverage says little about cabinet resonance, crossover execution or long-term durability, but the available assessment of fit and construction is positive.

Value for Money

90/100

At $899 / £699 / €799, the DCB61 combines amplification, HDMI eARC, phono input, USB audio, Bluetooth and a subwoofer output in one system. Ecoustics says ELAC continues its high-value tradition and considers the higher price reasonable, while The Ear presents it as a flexible all-in-one solution.
