Value for Money

81/100

The DALI IO-6 brings natural tonal balance and textured vocals to travel listening, pairing its 50mm paper-fibre drivers with effective ANC, 30-hour battery life and USB-C digital audio. SoundStage Solo admired its clear, unforced presentation, while HomeTheaterHifi highlighted exceptional comfort and balanced bass. It is a refined, fatigue-free wireless headphone built for long journeys.

Pros

Natural, balanced sound with clear vocals, refined treble and controlled, impactful bass.

Excellent long-session comfort from light construction, soft memory-foam pads and a secure over-ear seal.

Versatile connectivity, including aptX HD Bluetooth, analogue wired listening and a notably clearer USB-C digital mode.

Cons

Dynamic punch and bass drama can feel restrained beside livelier rivals.

Noise cancellation is useful but does not match the strongest Bose or Sony alternatives.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"If you have the budget for them, these are simply the best Bluetooth headphones I’ve ever used, and there’s nothing more that needs to be said about them."

— Part Time Audiophile

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 89/100

Reviewers consistently describe a natural, even-handed presentation with unusually convincing clarity for a wireless noise-cancelling headphone. Its strongest assets are tonal balance, midrange realism and clean detail; the meaningful limitation is a somewhat restrained sense of bass slam and dynamic excitement compared with leading rivals or a similarly priced wired setup.

Bass

90/100

Bass is widely praised as neutral, textured and well controlled rather than boosted. Reviewers found it full enough to underpin music and particularly convincing with acoustic bass, although What Hi-Fi? wanted more kick and drama, while some wireless listening brought slightly looser impact.

Midrange

94/100

The midrange earns especially strong praise for clean, natural vocals and convincing instrumental timbre. Reviewers describe voices as clear, unshrill and properly weighted, with newrecordday calling the tonal realism remarkably good at this price; a faint upper-mid edge was the only recurring caveat.

Treble

88/100

Treble is generally clean, refined and well behaved, with detailed cymbals, strings and vocal overtones but little harshness in normal powered operation. A few listeners found the upper range slightly bright or hot on cymbal-heavy music, and wired passive use was reported to sound somewhat harsher.

Resolution Detail

90/100

Several reviewers highlight impressive transparency and insight, particularly via USB, where detail and clarity improved noticeably over Bluetooth. It remains very capable wirelessly, but reviewers comparing it directly with similarly priced wired systems noted a little veil, fuzziness and reduced resolution.

Soundstage Imaging

87/100

The IO-6 produces a coherent, spacious-for-closed-back presentation with convincing placement and good separation between instruments. It is not especially expansive beside the Bowers & Wilkins PX, and reviewers stop short of calling its stage a major attraction.

Dynamics

82/100

The headphones stay composed at higher volumes and communicate subtle vocal shifts clearly, but multiple reviews identify restrained punch as their principal sonic shortcoming. Compared with livelier competitors and comparable wired rigs, bass hits and larger dynamic swings can feel held back.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Comfort Fit

91/100

Comfort is a standout: reviewers repeatedly call the IO-6 light, low-clamping and suitable for extended listening. One reviewer wore them comfortably through hour-plus transit rides and flights, while others praised the lack of the pressure sensation often associated with noise-cancelling headphones.

Build Quality

86/100

Reviewers describe the lightweight construction as well made, with tasteful design and soft memory-foam ear pads. The removable, replaceable ear cups are a practical plus, though there is limited long-term durability commentary.

Features Usability

91/100

The IO-6 is flexible in use, offering Bluetooth with AAC and aptX HD, wired analogue operation, USB-C digital audio and a useful transparency mode. Noise cancellation is effective in everyday travel and does not substantially alter tonality, although reviewers find it less capable than Sony and Bose systems at suppressing all higher-frequency aircraft noise.

Value for Money

81/100

At roughly $349-$500, the IO-6 sits above several prominent noise-cancelling competitors, and reviewers acknowledge that premium as a concern. SoundStage Solo felt frequent business travelers could justify the extra spend for its sound and ease of use, but Currawong also considered it a significant price jump over Sony and Bose alternatives.

Manufacturer's Description — Dali

Authentic DALI Sound

DALI IO headphones are built on a class-leading 50 mm paper fibre cone for the most natural, transparent and authentic DALI sound.

Connectivity

DALI IO headphones support Bluetooth® aptX, aptX HD and Apple AAC. For best results, use the included USB-C or mini-jack connectors.

Comfort & Durability

DALI IO ear pads are made from memory foam that shapes to the head for maximum comfort, fit and seal.

Battery Life

The IO-6 offers a best-in-class 30 hour battery life that lets you go for days without charging – and recharges in just 2.5 hours.

ENGINEERED IN DENMARK

Sound, design, durability & comfort

DALI IO headphones are a true DALI product, designed and engineered to the same fundamental principles and attention to detail as any other DALI loudspeaker. Every component meets the highest standards of design, durability, comfort, functionality and - most importantly - sound quality. With the DALI IO headphone series, we had a clear goal: they should deliver the best possible sound quality and be extremely comfortable to wear – even when used for hours on end.

AUTHENTIC SOUND

Benefitting from decades of sound design

With DALI IO headphones, you benefit from four decades of world-class Hi-Fi loudspeaker design. With the IO-6, our goal was to create the most natural and authentic sound possible and to reproduce music exactly as the artist intended it. We believe we succeeded.

50 MM DRIVER

Precise sound with crystal clear clarity

We understand the importance of a high-performance driver. That's why the IO-6 features a high quality, custom designed driver with a large 50 mm diaphragm and optimised neodymium magnet system. The result is low distortion, minimal colouration and accurate dynamics throughout the entire frequency range.

AUDIOPHILE ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLATION

Multi-mode AANC for any situation

The IO-6's closed-back design uses natural passive noise isolation (PNI) to block out unwanted noise, but it has its limits. With the IO-6, we’ve therefore added Audiophile Active Noise Cancellation to block out low frequency noise for an even more enjoyable listening experience. With three ANC modes, you can also tailor it to your situation, so whether you're relaxing at home or on your daily commute, IO-6 is the perfect choice.

BATTERY LIFE

Best-in-class 30 hours of playback

Our advanced 1,100 mAh lithium-ion battery delivers up to a best-in-class 30-hour battery life on a single charge, even with audiophile active noise cancellation enabled. And with battery level LEDs and a voice prompt to tell you how much charge you have left, you never need to run out of power.
