The Dali EPICON 2 delivers insightful midrange, precise imaging and a beautifully natural tonal balance, disappearing into an expansive, dimensional soundstage. A British Audiophile found its treble refined and complex mixes exceptionally well separated, while Alpha Audio praised its fast, open, richly detailed character. Meticulous cabinetry completes a seriously refined premium stand-mount.

Pros

Insightful, natural midrange with clean instrument separation, even on complex material.

Wide, deep soundstage and highly precise imaging; the speakers can convincingly disappear from the soundfield.

Fast, open and detailed presentation with a controlled, refined treble.

Beautifully contoured multi-layer cabinet and substantial binding posts reflect meticulous build quality.

Cons

Dynamics are restrained rather than especially punchy, particularly at low listening levels.

Bass is well defined but does not offer exceptional weight or low-frequency extension for the class.

Careful positioning and suitably capable amplification are needed to realize its full soundstage and tonal balance.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"Sonically the Dali Epicon 2s are probably the most accomplished speakers that I've reviewed to date."

— A British Audiophile

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 87/100

The EPICON 2 is described as an unusually accomplished stand-mount, with high clarity, natural tonal balance and an ability to disappear into a wide, dimensional presentation. Its strongest assets are midrange insight and imaging, while bass reach is merely competitive for its size and low-level dynamics are restrained.

Bass

85/100

Bass is described as very well defined, suggesting good control and articulation from the 6.5-inch two-way design. However, the reviewer found no extra weight or low-frequency extension versus competing stand-mounts, tempering its low-end authority.

Mid

90/100

The midrange is praised for insight, naturalness, clean instrument separation and composure during complex passages. The reviewer did note a touch of leanness, so listeners seeking a notably rich or lush presentation may want to match electronics carefully.

Treble

87/100

The tweeter is reported to remain controlled and well behaved, with no indication that it draws attention to itself. The review provides limited detail on ultimate air, extension or fine-texture retrieval, but its tonal integration appears convincing.

Soundstage Imaging

92/100

The EPICON 2 matches the reviewer’s reference stand-mount for image precision while retaining substantial width and depth. Careful placement and very small toe-in or distance adjustments make a noticeable difference, but correct setup brings greater dimensionality, body and note texture.

Dynamics

80/100

The speaker plays cleanly and loudly, becoming more animated above roughly 80dB. At lower listening levels, however, dynamics reportedly suffer, and the overall presentation is described as a little safe rather than especially energetic or punchy.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

91/100

The review highlights the beautifully contoured, multi-layer MDF cabinet, whose non-parallel internal form is intended to reduce standing waves. Finish options and substantial in-house binding posts capable of maintaining strong contact pressure reinforce the impression of meticulous construction.

Value for Money

85/100

Priced at just under $5,000 in the reviewed market, the EPICON 2 occupies a premium stand-mount segment. The reviewer calls it a clear step above sub-£3,000 bookshelf speakers and highly recommends it, but offers no direct assessment against similarly priced rivals or a detailed value comparison.
