Sound Quality

Value for Money

The Achema combines controlled warmth with unexpectedly commanding scale: a compact Italian floorstander whose ceramic drivers and resonator-filtered transmission line promise poised, full-bodied musicality. 6 Moons highlighted its mature tonal balance, while SoundStage! Australia found its performance beyond its size especially persuasive. It is a refined premium design with real musical authority.
Pros
Controlled, warmly balanced voicing avoids the lean or aggressive character sometimes associated with ceramic drivers.
Delivers performance and musical scale that exceed expectations for its relatively compact floorstanding form.
Cons
Published review coverage offers little specific evidence on deep-bass extension, imaging precision, or treble character.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 88/100
The available coverage is brief but distinctly enthusiastic: SoundStage! Australia says the Achema delivers performance far beyond expectations for its size, while 6moons characterises its balance as “correctly damped warmth.” Neither review provides detailed frequency-by-frequency or spatial analysis, so the finer aspects of its presentation remain less fully documented.
Bass
89/100
SoundStage! Australia’s comment that the Achema exceeds expectations for its compact stature supports an impression of unusually capable full-range performance. The reviews do not directly describe low-bass extension, texture, or control, however, so there is little specific commentary on its transmission-line bass performance.
Mid
90/100
6moons’ description of “correctly damped warmth” points to a controlled, naturally bodied tonal balance rather than an overtly lean or aggressively analytical presentation. Neither review isolates vocals or crossover coherence, but the available language suggests a persuasive and well-judged central range.
Treble
85/100
The reviews do not offer direct observations about treble air, sparkle, or ultimate extension. The reported correctly damped warmth suggests a refined, non-fatiguing overall voicing, but there is not enough commentary to make stronger claims about the ceramic tweeter’s character.
Soundstage Imaging
85/100
SoundStage! Australia’s broad praise indicates that the speaker performs beyond what its physical size might imply. Still, neither source specifically discusses image focus, stage width, depth, or placement sensitivity.
Dynamics
90/100
The description of performance that far exceeds expectations for the speaker’s size suggests convincing scale and musical authority. Direct comments on transient attack, large-scale slam, and high-volume composure are limited in the supplied reviews.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
76/100
The specifications describe a substantial 38kg enclosure, ceramic drive units, a resonator-filtered transmission line, and a handmade crossover using Mundorf components. The supplied reviews say little about cabinet finish, resonance behaviour, terminals, or long-term workmanship, so direct ownership-oriented assessment is limited.
Value for Money
85/100
At approximately 20,780, the Achema sits in a demanding premium segment where buyers will reasonably expect distinctive engineering and commensurate performance. SoundStage! Australia’s view that it exceeds expectations for its size is encouraging, but neither review directly compares its value with similarly priced rivals or explicitly assesses the asking price.

Manufacturer's Description — ALBEDO - ITALY
Our new model boasts all the design techniques that have distinguished our brand over the years, such as the traditional Albedo transmission line loading system, and all the new acoustic improvements that have further enhanced the musical qualities of our products.
Achema is a slim 2.5-way floorstanding tower designed to fit easily into any type of home environment and thus bring "High-performance High Fidelity" to a greater number of enthusiasts.
High-quality ceramic drivers remain a fundamental requirement for sound rich in detail, dynamics and transparency.
We have done it again!!!...
The success of our Agadia model confirms that our reinterpretation of the 2.5-way system is capable of significantly enhancing the performance and characteristics of the audio system.
Using a larger transducer for the half way, we have increased the radiating surface to increase the sound pressure as in a 2.5 way loudspeaker but keeping the higher energy and dynamics typical of 3 way systems. In this way it has been possible for us to use higher impedance transducers with the advantage of offering a loudspeaker with a nominal impedance higher than the classic 8 ohms and thus solving the weak point of all half-way loudspeakers.
That's why Achema is an easy load for any type of amp, it doesn't thirst for power, easy to control, it will be able to express its best qualities even with entry-level amps. The distortion level will always be low and the balance of the music will always be the same.
Achema is proposed as the first of a new line of loudspeakers which nevertheless reflect the exceptional characteristics of our most emblematic models, such as our AGADIA or ACCLARA models, with the same shapes, the same design and the same care for the mechanical stability of the cabinet and the reduction of vibrations with heavy damping steel plates.
We have designed a new cabinet that is smaller and lighter, but which is able to maintain the right balance between weight and stability, so as not to lose the surprising sound focus that characterizes our speakers. Furthermore, the new side ports of the Transmission Line facilitate installation in any type of music room.
Although small in size, we have used large wooden panels that reach thicknesses of 30 mm in the most crucial points of the structure.
The new boards have been designed so that the number of solder joints is reduced, with even shorter copper tracks, and have been assembled in such a way that the interaction between the magnetic fields of the components is minimal, in this way we have optimized the performance with a sensitivity recovery that translates into 1dB more sound pressure! (compared to a standard solution).
Even in this new crossover, we have not given up on relying once again on the proven and renowned quality of MUNDORF components, which in our opinion are capable of offering great transparency, dynamics and musical realism that are difficult to surpass!
Our Agadia project has taught us a lot in recent years and we would never have thought that small adjustments would translate into huge improvements capable of greatly enhancing the musical capabilities of the entire speaker.
For this reason we thought it was logical not to give up the undeniable advantage of dedicating a housing compartment for the crossover circuit totally separate from the acoustic load cabinet, so as to obtain a mechanical and microphonic separation of the components responsible for processing the audio signal.
